Championsleague 2013/14 – And the Winner Is: Gyor
July 31, 2013
Will any team be able to stop the handball stars of Gyor next season? If everything goes according to plan no other team in Europe will stand in the way of a Gyor repeat of the Championsleague success of 2013. Titles on a national level are all but assured.
The women around Ambros Martin may even win all their games (national and international) and set a new record.
At this point it is hard to see who may develop as a serious competitor that can rival the skill and experience of the Hungarian handball powerhouse.
The departure of Andrea Lekic has been more than compensated with the arrival of Katarina Bulatovic from now defunct Oltchim Valcea. Heidi Loke, Anita Goerbicz, Eduarda Amorim are all in their prime and behind an impressive defense is worldclass keeper Katrine Lunde Haraldsen tending the goal. If there is any weakness it will be on the wings – particularly right wing where the skill and emotional play of Jovanka Radicevic is not easily replaced.
Which team will emerge as a real challenger to Gyor? The future dream team from Macedonia – ZRK Vardar Skopje, long time rival Buducnost with star player Milena Knezevic or again the nordic champions from Larvik HK?
