Joan Canellas (HC Vardar) spoke to Peter Bruun and Chris O’Reilly at the VELUX EHF FINAL4 media call:
“It’s been a great few years with this team, I feel like we are a family, and we want say goodbye properly.
“It is never easy to get as far as here, but we have played a good season, I think, and it was an advantage to us to be able to skip the Last 16.
“Our quarter-finals against Kiel were tough, of course, but now, we are here as the first team with a chance to win the FINAL4 twice in succession, and that is very special to me and to the entire team.
“We have the experience of last year and we know that the favourites usually don’t win, so that makes us more prudent, we know that anything can happen.
“Montpellier may not be as tall as us, but they play well one against one, they’re faster in attack, but I think our tactical ability may hurt them – if we play like we train.
“I do not expect the fans of the other French teams to support Montpellier, though, and that may be an advantage for us.”
